Travel Insurance

Medical insurance covering overseas travel (while on duty), is purchased by default when submitting an online travel form (TOFES NESIOT) through TAFNIT. Yet, FGS students and WIS Postdoctoral Fellows must ensure that this is indeed done and the proper medical coverage had been purchased for their "on duty" trip abroad.

Travel on Duty for more than 30 days

The aforementioned default is not implemented when the "on duty" travel is longer than 30 days. In such a case, FGS students and WIS Postdoctoral Fellows must purchase adequate medical insurance. For more information on this issue students may consult with the Travel Team of the Finance Division at the Institute. Foreign students must consult their insurance agency where they had purchased their medical insurance for their stay in Israel, in order to ensure continuity of their rights as specified bellow.

International Students and Postdoctoral Fellows

Like their Israeli colleagues, international FGS students and WIS Postdoctoral Fellows must ensure that they have an adequate medical insurance covering their "on duty" overseas travel. In addition, they must verify, with the insurance agency where they had purchased their medical insurance for their stay in Israel, that their medical insurance policy also covers medical treatments in Israel that would be necessary following a medical incident that occurred while traveling "on duty" overseas. In some cases, foreign students will be required to purchase medical insurance for their overseas travel with the same insurance agency where they had purchased the medical insurance for their stay in Israel in order to ensure continuity of their rights.
