MAC Address
What is a MAC Address?
A MAC address, or a networked device's physical Media Access Control address, is a sequence of 12 digits and characters that uniquely identifies the device when connecting to the network. This unique address is assigned to network interface cards during manufacturing, for example, serving as their personal ID card of sorts.
A MAC address may take on a range of formats, such as the following:
0001a2b3c4d5
0001.a2b3.c4d5
00-01-a2-b3-c4-d5
00:01:a2:b3:c4:d5
