The Weizmann Institute established a unique In Vivo Imaging Center, which provides Weizmann scientists access to state-of-the art imaging equipment to support wide range of scientific projects for in-vivo imaging in pre-clinical rodents models of human disease (mice and rats). Two of these multiple imaging modalities are based on the basics of magnetic resonance: a 9.4 Tesla Bruker (Germany) BioSpec MRI scanner and a contrast agent analyzer. Magnetic Resonance Imaging is one of the most important imaging modalities in biomedicine. It provides images with high spatial resolution and offers non-invasive direct imaging in any desired spatial plane.

Scheduling

MRI scanner

  • The 9.4T MRI scanner is accessible to anyone who has been authorized by Dr. Inbal Biton. 

  • The MRI user must have an IACUC approved protocol under which these animals will be studied.

  • The training period will be according to the student knowledge and understanding. 

  • Each authorized-user account is given a special permission for scheduling time on the scanner (via Internal Services) as well as a userid for login to the instrument schedule. 

  • In general, on weekday the scanner is available for use at three shifts, morning (between 8am – 2pm),  afternoon (between 2pm -8pm),  night (between 8pm-8am). 

  • On the weekend the scanner is available from 8am until 8pm. 

  • Users should send their MRI requests by mail for next month until the 15th of the current month. 

  • Requests for MRI slots for the current month can be schedule by the user via internal services.

  • Cancellation requests must be sent 24 hours before hand, otherwise the users will be charge for the MRI shift.

  • The users will install the coil configuration they need for their research. At the end of the work the users will return back the system to default.

     

Contrast agent MiniSpec scanner 

  • The scanner is accessible to anyone who has been authorized to use the scanners.
  • New users must contact Dr. Inbal Biton for authorization process.
  • Scheduling is made on a first-come first serve basis but with some flexibility for those investigators with time sensitive experiments.
