The advent of very high throughput sequencing has changed the scale of projects that can be attempted and will have repercussions on both our understanding of complex biological processes and personalized medicine. This presentation will showcase the current technology offered by Illumina, highlight strengths and weaknesses of the current system, and discuss the implication for labs who adopt the technology.

The Biological Services Unit of the Weizmann Institute has purchased Illumina’s ‘Genome Analyzer II’ technology for high throughput sequencing and will make this service available during the summer. A lecture and a following discussion will inform you about the different applications available (Resequencing, gene expression, ChIP, RNA) and how they could be of interest for your lab.
