Workshop on Unconscious Bias in Academia for New Committee Members
An essential academic duty is evaluating colleagues’ performance for recruitment, promotions, awards, and appointments. Numerous studies have demonstrated the presence of significant unconscious bias against women scientists, affecting various stages of their careers. These biases, often unintentional, are exhibited by both men and women.
We believe it is crucial to raise awareness of unconscious bias, understand its impact, and explore ways to mitigate it.
The workshop will focus on:
• Up-to-date data on gender bias in academia
• A review of relevant literature
• Practical tools for addressing and preventing biases
