The “Iron Swords” War has been going on for nearly a year, with many families facing constant anxiety and concern for loved ones serving in the Armed forces. In order to help, and make this time a little easier, we are offering a support workshop for members of the Institute’s community whose spouse or child is in regular army service or recruited into the reserves. The workshop will include 6 group sessions led by Naomi Weiner, a clinical psychologist and family therapist and by Anat Kobovo Zilberman, a psychotherapist and group therapist.

If current trends continue, women and men will be equally represented in the field of biology in 2009. In physics, math, and engineering, women should not expect to reach parity for more than a century. The gender gap in science and technology is narrowing, but at a decidedly unimpressive pace. And even if parity is achievable, what about equity? This talk will present a large-scale empirical analysis of the global gender gap in science, providing strong evidence that the structures of scientific production and reward impede women’s career advancement.

מדעניות כיום נמצאות בחזית העשייה המדעית. הן מובילות מחקרים פורצי דרך וסוללות דרכים חדשות במדע. במקביל לקידום הקריירה המדעית, עומדת בפניהן הבחירה ללדת ילדים - בחירה אשר באופן טבעי נעשית בגילאים 20-40.
נשים המעוניינות לשלב בין מסלול מדעי לבין הבחירה באימהות יעשו זאת בשלב קריטי במסלול האקדמי – במהלך לימודי המאסטר, דוקטורט או פוסט דוקטורט או בשנים הראשונות להקמת מעבדתן.
