Instrument Specification
The Bambu Lab X1E with AMS is a powerful, intelligent 3D printer now available to support students and researchers.
Designed for precision, speed, and multi-material capabilities, the X1E is ideal for academic projects, prototyping, and experimental research
Specifications:
- Resolution
Supporting several nozzle diameters, including 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, and 0.8 mm. When using the 0.2 mm nozzle, the printer can reach a Z-resolution in the range of about 40–140 µm, and with careful tuning, layers as thin as 60 µm are achievable.
- Volume
256 × 256 × 256 mm3 (width × depth × height)
- Multi-Material & Multi-Color Printing
Thanks to the Automatic Material System (AMS), students can print up to 4 different filaments in a single job – ideal for complex models, color-coded designs, or combining flexible and rigid parts.
- High-Speed, High-Quality Output
With speeds up to 500mm/s and high-resolution detail, the X1E allows students to produce detailed prototypes and models quickly and reliably.
- User-Friendly & Smart
Automatic bed leveling, filament detection, and AI-powered failure prevention (via LIDAR and camera systems) make the X1E accessible even to users with minimal 3D printing experience.
- Supports Engineering-Grade Materials
For more advanced research, the X1E supports a wide range of materials including PLA, PETG, TPU, PA, and carbon-fiber reinforced filaments.
- Safe & Efficient
The fully enclosed chamber and air filtration system ensure stable printing and improved safety in shared lab environments.
Use Cases:
- Educational models for teaching and outreach
- Mechanical parts for lab setups
- Functional prototypes for student projects
- Research components in physics, biology, chemistry, and engineering

Training information
0.5-hour training on the use is quite intuitive.
The user will need to install Bambustudio on an available computer.
The setup of the 3D printer, if needed to be changed, needs to be coordinated with Assaf.
