Description: The mechanical polisher contains a cast iron scaife that consists of a wheel impregnated with oil and diamond powder and resolves at an incredible 3,000 revolutions per minute. An automated polishing arm holds the diamond sample and presses it against the scaife with force up to 1.5 Kg. The minimal diamond size that can be processed by mechanical polishing is 3mm by 3mm diamond plates. 

Capabilities

• Reduce the surface roughness of the diamond facet from µm’s range to a few nm’s.
• Thinning diamond plates by several 10’s of µm, down to a thickness of ~100 µm.
• Create diamond plates with parallel faces.
