Dana
Bar Zvi
Dana Bar‑Zvi is a PhD student studying the biodiversity of wild emmer wheat under the supervision of Prof. Avi Levy in the Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences at the Weizmann Institute of Science.
Dana has a BSc in Animal Sciences from the Faculty of Agriculture, Hebrew University of Jerusalem and MSc in Life Sciences from the Weizmann Institute of Science. Dana’s PhD research explores the genomic variation in historical and contemporary populations of wild emmer wheat, in order to provide a direct assessment of the risks of biodiversity decline. This helps define strategies for in-situ and ex-situ conservation, and identify genes or pathways within the WEW genomes that are associated with advantageous traits for potential use in breeding.
Dana volunteers with Little Big Science, a nonprofit organization dedicated to bridging the gap between the scientific community and the general public through direct, straightforward, and accessible communications.
