The IES postdoctoral fellowship is awarded annually to up to three outstanding postdoctoral conducting research related to sustainability. Fellowships are awarded across disciplines, including the chemistry, physics, life sciences, and mathematic faculties.
Outstanding postdoctoral candidates from abroad, who have not previously studied or completed a degree at Weizmann or in any other Israeli academic institution, wishing to join a Weizmann research group for exciting research on Sustainability related scientific fields, are encouraged to apply.
Program Details
- Up to three IES postdoctoral fellowships will be offered annually; the number may exceptionally be increased for applicants that are truly outstanding, based on objective criteria.
- The successful applicant will be awarded a two-year fellowship.
- Submission of an annual report up to 2 pages will be required upon completion of the first and second years of funding.
The 2nd year annual report may include a request for continuation of IES funding for a third year, which will be evaluated based on academic excellence and achievements, availability of funds, recommendation of the candidate’s advisor and special circumstances of each specific applicant. - The level of the fellowship will be identical to other postdoctoral fellowships at the Weizmann Institute of Science.

How to Apply
- Before submitting the IES postdoctoral fellowship application, the applicant should find a host in one of the research groups that is active in sustainability research.
- Please fill out the online application forms for a postdoc at Weizmann available on the Weizmann School of Science (WSoS) website: applying for a postdoctoral fellowship.
- Note: the IES postdoctoral fellowship application may be submitted (according to the instructions below) only after the applicant has received an acceptance letter from WSoS and only prior to or shortly after the applicants’ arrival at WIS (2-3 months).
- The application should contain the following documents:
- Detailed CV and LOP
- Brief research statement (up to 2 pages)
- Acceptance letter from WSoS
- Support letter from the host in which s/he states that s/he is willing to accept the applicant unequivocally
- 2 letters of recommendation
- Statement by the applicant and their host on whether they have applied, or will apply, for other competitive fellowships and that if they get such fellowship, they will inform IES.
