We operate diverse programs that advance sustainability research, designed to nurture both current and future leaders in the field. Our initiatives support researchers at every career stage – from fellowships for PhD students and postdoctoral researchers to grants that help established scientists explore innovative directions in sustainability research. We also cultivate a thriving sustainability community at Weizmann Institute through campus events, educational partnerships, and supporting the transformation of innovative research into practical, impactful solutions.

IES Grants

IES Grants offer Weizmann researchers the chance to explore new, original directions in sustainability research. These internal grants lay the foundation for researchers to secure additional external funding for long-term support.

IES Fellows

We are fostering the next generation of sustainability leaders through the IES Fellows program. This initiative supports outstanding Weizmann Institute PhD students from all faculties who are interested in tackling today's complex sustainability challenges.

IES Postdoc Fellowships

Awarded annually to three outstanding postdoctoral fellows at the Weizmann Institute who are
conducting research related to sustainability. Fellowships are awarded across disciplines, including chemistry, physics, life sciences, and mathematic faculties.

Next Gen Postdoc Award

The Next Gen Post-Doc Award is awarded annually to exceptional Weizmann Institute PhD graduates who are starting their postdoctoral training aboard. Through the program, we aim to foster the next generation of global leaders in sustainability and environmental science research.

Advancing the Ecosystem

By fueling these companies with ground-breaking science, they can develop the revolutionary solutions the world needs, fast. IES partners with the Weizmann Institute’s Bina incubator and Yeda tech transfer arm. These programs have an outstanding track record of translating scientific and technological breakthroughs into useful applications. They will feed a pipeline of innovation that can help reverse the negative impacts of climate change, pollution, and other environmental problems to create a healthier planet.

Education - the Davidson Institute

We partner with the Davidson Institute, the Educational Arm of the Weizmann Institute, to inspire the next generation of scientists through scientific and educational activities.
