Aviezer (Alumni)
Dr. Iris Aviezer was previously affiliated with the Israeli Ministry of Environmental Protection. She holds a PhD in Plant and Environmental Sciences from the Weizmann Institute of Sciences, an MSc from the Plant Ecology Department at Tel Aviv University, and a BSc in Biology from Haifa University.
As the Head of the Pest Management Unit in the Department of Natural Resources and Climate Resilience at the Ministry of Environmental Protection, Dr. Aviezer played a crucial role in regulating urban pest control. She oversaw the implementation of laws and regulations, including the management of education, examination, and license maintenance for pest control professionals. Additionally, as an insecticide registration officer, she was responsible for managing the statutory committee of urban pesticides and insecticides, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
Beyond her professional pursuits, Dr. Aviezer actively contributes to promoting safety and empowerment. She has volunteered as an assistant in IMPACT, a self-defense training program aimed at combating and preventing sexual violence. She has also dedicated several years to volunteering for a gay phone crisis hotline, providing support and guidance to individuals in need.
