Roni Beiralas is a PhD student researching algal-bacterial interactions under the supervision of Dr. Einat Segev in the Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences at the Weizmann Institute of Science. She has a BSc in Marine Sciences from Ruppin Academic Center and an MSc in Ecological Microbiology from the Weizmann Institute of Science.

In her PhD work, Roni uses classical microbiological methods and generated genomic data to study how bloom forming algae interact with their surrounding microbiome. She is currently focusing on the establishment of an algal-bacterial synthetic community that will facilitate the study of complex algal-bacterial interactions in a reduced and controlled manner.
