Yuval
Rosenberg (Alumni)
Yuval Rosenberg is a postdoctoral researcher of global ecology under the supervision of Prof. Ron Milo in the Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences at Weizmann Institute. He completed a dual BSc in Physics and Mathematics from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and an MSc and PhD in Physics from the Weizmann Institute of Science. His research focused on ultra-fast and non-linear optical phenomena, stimulating and understanding Hawking radiation in an optical analog of a black hole.
In his current work, Yuval uses computational methods to better understand global ecology in the age of the Anthropocene. He recently quantified the global biomass and population of terrestrial arthropods, considered the little animals that run the world.
Yuval enjoys communicating scientific ideas to the wider public and is active in a wide range of science outreach initiatives focusing on sustainability, physics, and the environment. He also engages in urban planning and environmental protection projects, with the aim to benefit society and natural systems.
